Traditional Chen Village Taijiquan

Chen Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) was created in the 1600s by members of the Chen clan in China’s Henan province. Combining traditional martial arts, energetic methods and the ideas of balance and harmonisation drawn from China’s ancient philosophy.

Chenjiagou Taijiquan GB (CTGB) is an official branch of the Chenjiagou Taijiquan School. We represent the modern, precise and powerful expression of Taijiquan in a direct lineage from the birthplace of the art in China! The syllabus we teach is rich and detailed, and requires perseverance and commitment.

Our classes offer a uniquely balanced approach towards the development of both internal and external aspects of human potential. In CTGB classes students learn a progressive system that combines physical training of the joints, muscles and fascia with mental aspects such as mindfulness and intention. It provides a holistic discipline perfect for modern practitioners to develop both health and martial arts ability.  Chen Taijiquan’s movements alternate from slow,  smooth flowing actions to dynamic expressions of energy. The centuries-old system is composed of basic exercises, standing pole, hand forms, weapon forms and partner drills.
